Building Update – The Colonnade

July 22, 2011 in Building

This week, the brick layers have been working hard on the columns of our covered walkway. These 15 brick columns are a very impressive sight. It’s sort of Cross of Glory’s version of “Solomon’s Colonnade” on the east side of the temple in Jerusalem. This brickwork should be finished today!

Building Update – Brick by Brick

July 13, 2011 in Building

Last week, we finished the roof. This week, the bricks are going up. We can really start to get an idea of what the finished product will look like and it is going to be great!

Building Update – We’ve Got Shingles

July 1, 2011 in Building

There’s been a lot of progress over the last week. We passed our mechanical inspection. Our framers finished up their work on the covered walkway and some other odds and ends. We’ve begun to see the shingles go on the roof. Soon, the bricks are going to be delivered. Exciting times!

We also gave the congregation members the opportunity to write Bible passages or other meaningful phrases on the walls of the church. It will be neat to worship in our new sanctuary literally surrounded by the Word of God.

Building Update – Long Time, No See

June 17, 2011 in Building

It’s been quite a while since our last building update. Much has happened in the meantime. Here’s a summary:

- The framers finished decking the covered walkway, did some serious demolition on the WEF unit in order to tie in the new walkway, constructed a cupola / steeple / bell tower (whatever you want to call it…) on top of the walkway, and took care of numerous other odds and ends.

- The electricians wired the building and did the prep work for the recessed cans in the covered walkway and gathering room.

- The HVAC guys installed the main units and duct work for the AC (and heat during the two weeks of winter).

- Volunteers from the congregation put in quite a few hours of clean up and painting the soffit and facia.

- The metal fabricators installed the steel support columns behind the chancel.

Building Update – A Pipe Dream

June 2, 2011 in Building

The framers have been working at completing the walkway and tying it into the existing buildings (a somewhat daunting task…). The plumbers have also been by the past couple of days setting up the inside plumbing. The electrician will start tomorrow. We’ve also included some pictures from inside the sanctuary. We’re looking forward to the day when the scaffolding comes down and we can get a better view of what it will look like…

Building Update – Under Cover Operation

May 24, 2011 in Building

Today, we saw the covered walkway start to take shape. This is the last big task for our framers. Soon, we’ll start working on plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc. Pretty exciting!

Building Update – Going Green

May 18, 2011 in Building

The crew has been working hard to cover the roof with synthetic underlayment. It has given the building a nice green look.

Building Update – Peak Performance

May 16, 2011 in Building

It’s been a productive day today at the COG work site. The  builders finished adding the peak to the roof over the sanctuary. They are also well on their way to finishing decking the entire sanctuary and gathering room. We can start to really get a sense of how the building will look from the outside and we’re very impressed!

Building Update – Up On Deck

May 12, 2011 in Building

The past couple of days, the crew has been working on adding the roof peaks and decking the roof over the sanctuary. We’ll have some more pictures when it is all decked out…

Building Update – Back In Business

May 9, 2011 in Building

After a lengthy session of “patience training,” we’re back in business. Our final set of trusses were delivered by our new truss manufacturer on Friday. The trusses were set in place over the weekend. Today, they are adding additional support to the trusses and working on the soffit and fascia. It’s good to see progress again…
