What is the mission of Cross of Glory?
We of Cross of Glory, united in faith and worship by the Word of God, exist to make disciples of all nations for time and eternity, using the gospel to win the lost for Christ, and to nurture believers for lives of Christian service, all to the glory of God.
What are your services like?
Every church has its own style of worship. We think you’ll enjoy the services at Cross of Glory, but as in any church, you should expect it to take a couple of Sundays to become accustomed to our way of praising God together.
Each week the service is printed in the worship folder, which you will receive when you arrive. All the Scripture readings and prayers are printed there for you. We are a liturgical church, which means we follow an established order of service consisting of prayers, hymns, psalms, Bible readings, a sermon and Holy Communion. We do have less formal or more contemporary services on occasion. All our services offer an opportunity to learn God’s Word and praise his name.
What should I wear?
Since the Bible presents no dress code, aside from simple modesty, we don’t make any rules either. On any given Sunday you may see running shoes and high heels, jeans and suits, t-shirts and ties. When a person dresses out of love for God, the choice of dress (casual or more formal) is acceptable to God . . . and to us.
What if my kids are too noisy?
In Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” We do not mind a fussy child or an instructing parent. But if you feel uncomfortable, we have a cry room with some toys and a large one-way window into the sanctuary. The worship audio can be heard in the gathering room and cry room.
Will I be asked to stand up or to say anything?
No indeed! We don’t want you to feel uncomfortable. We are glad to have you come and listen. You may be asked to sign the guest book in the gathering room so we can know you visited and thank you for worshiping with us.
What if I don’t know much about the Bible?
All the more reason to come! We are all looking to learn. Worship and Bible study are opportunities to grow in our knowledge of the Bible and faith in Jesus. You won’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to answer. You won’t be called on to answer anything. We simply hope to be a place where you can grow.
What about the offering?
The members of Cross of Glory are happy to support its ministry with their financial gifts. If you are visiting our church, you are not obligated nor expected to give an offering.
